5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.

6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Colossians 4:5-6

While in Chains

Paul wrote his letter to the Colossians asking them to pray for him so that God may open a door for their message.

So that even while he was in chains he might proclaim the gospel.

…and in the very same stroke, of the breath of his voice, through his pen

he asked his brethren and sistren to make the most of every opportunity when it came to those who were unbelievers.

Note his instructions to them:

Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Paul wanted everyone to be on their toes with grace filled lips full of the salt of the gospel.

Oh how I wonder how I have often missed being filled with grace when it came to unbelievers,

and I want to challenge myself (and you my dear reader) to take Paul’s words to heart walking them

into the world where we can write on the hearts of those who do not know Christ with the salt of the gospel of grace.

The same grace that has so graciously been given to us.

With What Else?

At the same time we must be wise, Paul said, and to know how to answer everyone.

That seems a bit intimidating doesn’t it???

However, in many situations I have found myself in I recall that the Spirit is with me to give me the answers I need.

Beloved how do you work out wisdom and grace in your approach with those who do not know Christ Jesus?
