“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”  Matthew 5:4 NET

Today is Ash Wednesday.  For many Christians it is a time of mourning our sin, and the beginning of preparing our hearts for Easter.  It is a season of forty days leading up to Easter.  A time where we return t0 our first love, forsake our works, and take up grace.  This year it begins today March 5, 2014 and last through April 19, 2014.

The following is a forty day Lenten scripture journey. Some people choose to fast from something to show their need for Jesus.  I choose every year to fast from wrong thinking.  I use Gregory Dickow’s email devotionals which are a great way to renew the mind.

However, this year I have chosen to take a journey through the scriptures and I wanted to invite you to join me.

If you choose to do so then each day read the chosen passage, reflect on what it means to you by journaling, renew your mind according to what the Lord has rendered in heart, remember grace, rejoice that the work of Jesus Christ is finished, and that He will complete the good work He began in us.

Journey Instructions:

Pray to the Father asking Him to help you look on the scripture reference with fresh eyes.  Ask Him to reveal what He would have you know, and to bless your time in His presence.

Praise the Lord Sing any praise song leaving any worry/care/or concern at His feet.  See yourself (act it out if you have to) leaving it with Him, and turning your focus on Him in praise.

Use the Hymn Lyric App, YouTube, Pandora, or your own music to help.  Sing in a whisper or sing out louder.  It all moves the heavens.

Read  the chosen passage.  Reread for understanding looking for new insight as the Spirit reveals it.  Ask who, why, what, when, and how.

Reflect on what this means to you by journaling.  A sentence, a paragraph or a page according to your liking.

Renew your mind.  Decide how to apply what God revealed to you.  How does it affect your life?  This is an impartation of His wisdom.  Knowledge is what we gain, but wisdom is the application of it.  Don’t worry because God is waiting to give it to you if you ask.

Remember that in John 6:28-29 our work is to believe on Him who the Father sent.

Rejoice in your salvation, and the daily grace God gives that is more than enough for each of us a thousand times over.
