Take the Plunge
I have been dreaming about something for a very long time. But, as God placed His desires in my heart for the upcoming year fear began paralyzing me.
This week I kicked the spirit of fear to the curb, however momentarily, and took the plunge into something I am just keeping between Jesus and I right now. I have prayed and plunged asking Him to get the glory, but to use me and my story to draw others to Himself. To please let me put a fleece out like Gideon, again and again, while I wrestle with His latest request. What a privilege it is to take our broken selves to Jesus and have Him turn what we thought would destroy us into something glorious. That is true redemption. What is also a privilege is that we can tell Him our fears in exchange for faith.
What is it that you fear taking a chance on? What dream do you have that you keep bottled up in your heart. What desire of God has you burying your head in the quick sands of doubt. Give it to Him, remove your buried head and hold your breath as you take the plunge your heart has been beckoning you to.
Remember the days of summer and the refreshing that came from the swim in the pool, lake, river, or pond? Remember the Lipton tea commercials and the dares to fall backward into the water. (I could be dating myself here??) Well, I dare you to take the plunge backward into the Living Water that holds your dreams.I’ll even go with you. Do you trust Him? Do I?
I began my book this week. The one I knew I should. That is only part of my plunge, but I feel like I couldn’t ask you to share comments with me without divulging at least a portion of my secret. So here goes….
Bonnie, the Faith Barista, challenged us to share the word God has for us in 2013. He has given me two:
One is harvest via this scripture:
Those who continually go forth weeping bearing precious seed for sowing will doubtless come again rejoicing bringing their sheaves with them. Psalm 126:6
The other is, fear strikes even while typing this one, it’s Pastor.
Years ago God told me to go into all the world and preach the gospel. I have a a Bachelors in Church Ministry. I’m a licensed minister, but now that it’s go time I’ve struggled with fear. Only recently have I realized that if God has requested for me to do what He has equipped me for then He goes with me all the way. So I say like Mary, “Be it unto me according to your Word.” With knees knocking I choose to throw myself on God whom is the only one who can accomplish His will through us.I plunge deeper and He asks me more. Though I wont divulge that part of the plunge I will tell you I’m closing my eyes, standing on the edge of His glory and planning to fall backward into the only arms I trust. Sink or swim!
What is God speaking to you about in 2013? What is keeping you from taking the plunge?
We walk (plunge) by faith not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
And when we come up out of the water and take that first deep breath our lungs are newly filled with refreshing from the Spirit of God. The only One who is able to do exceedingly more than we can ask or think for His glory.
