Carrying the Load Alone?

***For the next week or so I am taking a Sabbath from blogging to rest and to prepare for Back to School with my kiddos.  I am re-posting some oldies but goodies for you until we are settled into our new schedule.***

Carrying a Heavy courtesy of Vera Kratochvil

Have you ever been carrying something heavy or even just awkward and had somebody ask if they could help?  What did you do?  If you are anything like me there are times I accept the assistance, and other times I insist on carrying it myself.  Why do we do the latter when we know it is too heavy for us?

Interestingly enough we do that with the burdens we carry in our soul as well.  The bigger problem here is that people may not recognize we are carrying a load like this.  So we keep trying to carry it alone.  It can be several things in the list I am about to give, or even others not listed.

People may not, most won’t, recognize we need help with the invisible load of:

Anxiety/Fear
Broken Hearts
Anger
Unforgiveness
Bitterness
Envy
Lack
Mourning
Insecurity
Loneliness
Discontentment
Depression
Confusion
Pain
Guilt/Shame

We are all carrying a load of the soul.  These loads are too weighty for us to carry alone.  People can’t see ours because we may hide it well, or their own load is blocking their view.

But God sees.  He is beckoning us to drop the load at His feet.  He wants to carry it.  He is just waiting for us to admit we can’t carry it anymore.  Somehow we may think strength and control lie in the ability to do it on our own.  In reality true strength, God sized strength,  is born out of our weakness and giving up control is making way for His power.

What are you carrying Beloved??  It is time to let go and let God.  God is big enough for yours and mine.  We have nothing to prove.  Mind if I pray?

Lord,

We are burdened, and heavy laden with what our souls are trying to carry on their own.  Some of us can’t see You because the load gets in the way.  Some of us can’t let go because we don’t know how.  Some of us can’t take another step.  Help us lay the burdens down Lord God.  Even if we have become angry at you.  You are the only one capable of bearing the weight our heart is trying to carry.  We cast our care on you.  We lay the loads down now.  Fill our empty hands with who You are, and your promises concerning the loads.  We are so thankful Lord.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden…and you will find rest for your souls.  Matthew 11:28-29 NKJV
