A Letter to God: A Written Prayer
I love you, I am here, walk by faith, and don’t be afraid.
Thank you. Thank you Father that you are charting my course daily. I have been like Abraham who left everything to go to the land you would show him. It has been a wilderness journey, but you remain faithful. So today I want to say that I am so thankful. Thank you that you send ripples of love and direction into my faith waters from the hearts of my dear brothers and sisters in the faith exactly when I need them. I want to know everything until I am faced with knowing something small about my destiny that scares me silly. However, you continually answer my cries to you with, “I love you, I am here, walk by faith, and don’t be afraid.” I have never met the sisters and brothers on the blogosphere you continually use to hush my heart. However, I am so grateful that I get to be the one to hear their voice and heart mingled with yours each day. They think their lights are small, but they shine brightly in this dark world. They are beacons of hope drawing me to you. I only pray that the faith that spills through my fingers onto this spacious place blesses them right back. I pray the same for anyone who stops by. I pray that my voice prepares your way, and that when your glory shows up it lights a faith fire that no one can put out.
You know I am scared to write the book you are leading me to write. You know I have a secret blog I haven’t launched yet. You know that I have done ministry before and it hurt so bad when I was rejected. You know that I need a river to drink when it’s time to speak for you. I don’t want to do what you are asking me to do and end up saying, Hey, come look what I can do.” Because my vulnerability likes acceptance. I want them both to be a place that shouts, “Hey come look, taste and see that my Lord is good, and He wants great things for you. He is a God of grace, mercy, faithfulness, and truth.”
I am going to keep stepping into the fearful places and daring the waves to splash over me. When it becomes too much I will like Peter say, “Lord save me.” I am not too proud to know that I need you to walk on water. Help me hear your voice over the roar of the storms, and the knocking of my knees.
I love you, Lord!
We walk by faith and not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
